#PlasticFreePeriods - It’s becoming an emerging trend.
And for good reason. The average woman uses 12,000 sanitary products in her lifetime. However, with the majority being made of single-use plastic (and not recyclable), this means that appropriately 120kg ends up in the landfill, or even the ocean.
Luckily, there has been a rise in innovative and sustainable period products lining our shop shelves. The perfect solution, right? Wrong. Breaking this taboo topic, Sophia Tremenheere explains the full impact that women’s periods are having not only on our one planet but also one body, and how we can really advocate for #PlasticFreePeriod, no matter our gender.

As a Menstrual Cycle Mentor and Confidence Coach, Sophia helps women have happier, healthier periods. But what she is really passionate about is guiding women to embrace their feminine energy and step into their power. Thanks to Sophia’s mission to educate and empower as many women as possible when it comes to all things period- and hormone-related, this has led her to proactively address sustainable practices in women’s health.
Originally from London, UK, Sophia has always had a large interest in reducing our environmental impact, including research into ethical fashion. It was, however, whilst travelling around Latin America and on her own healing journey that Sophia discovered the true impact to which society’s consumption was having upon climate change. She was shocked by the amount of single-use plastic polluting the ocean and beautiful landscape of the region.
